Aviation

For over 35 years, Dyer & Butler has been supporting requests from airport operators to undertake various works under framework and standalone contracts from maintenance through to major projects. The result of this long-standing ongoing activity has produced a team of highly experienced specialists who fully understand and work to the high standards demanded from those who work in such highly visible and time-sensitive locations.

Today, Dyer & Butler’s specialist development and maintenance teams can be found regularly at some of the UK’s major airports, Heathrow, Gatwick and Southampton.

Highways

Highway services have been at the forefront of Dyer & Butler’s activity since our formation in 1979. We have built a reputation for working in close partnership with public organisations to deliver high quality, value-led solutions for road, bridge and highway works. Our experience and work on highways is managed by a team of dedicated engineering specialists benefiting from a wealth of experience in highways infrastructure.

Our roads and highways capabilities encompass standalone schemes as well as term projects with a wide range of services, including: carriageway construction, junction improvements, access roads, highway reconstruction and surfacing, park & ride facilities, cycle routes, footpaths, bridges, tunnels and embankments. These also include environmental improvements such as drainage, kerbing, barriers, paving, street furniture and signage.

Rail

We are all aware of the extreme focus on the rail sector to keep safety at the core of every activity, whilst still maintaining train services. To help achieve this, Dyer & Butler has a specialist rail division that delivers a wide range of services and solutions specifically tailored for the rail industry. For more than 35 years, we have undertaken rail-specific works for many clients operating in the rail sector under framework and stand-alone contracts from maintenance through to major projects.

As result of our track record for programme delivery and an extensive understanding of the rail industry’s infrastructure, we have forged relationships with both Network Rail (principal contractor), TFL and TOCs. 

Buildings

Dyer & Butler undertakes build projects covering a wide range of structures and types across the many sectors that commission specialist engineering companies. Typically, we work for authorities, utility companies and private organisations across the whole of England and Wales in urban, rural and coastal locations under a wide range of contractual agreements.

We build commercial and industrial facilities along with those that serve the public sectors, ranging from traditionally constructed amenity buildings to vast, steel framed, clad barns and sheds. We also undertake building refurbishment, extensions and ground stabilisation.

Public Realm

Working in the public realm requires a total commitment towards Health & Safety and good community liaison skills. These are both fundamental to the Dyer & Butler business and have been so for over 35 years. During this time we have assisted with car park and park & ride facilities, street, footpath, cycleway development and improvements, foot bridges, landscaping and sports pitches. We know working in this sector is highly visible to the local community, and in many instances requires careful handling to ensure that all local residents and businesses are kept informed of progress and inconvenienced in the least possible way.

To help ensure all projects go to programme and budget Dyer & Butler directly employs a team of highly mobile, multi-disciplined and knowledgeable project managers supported by experienced engineering staff.

River & Marine

River and marine environments can be some of the most challenging of environments within the construction industry. Therefore, it is crucial for those who work in the River and Marine sectors to have an in-depth understanding of water and how it interacts with its surroundings.

This is key to ensuring projects always go to plan without causing any negative impact to the environment. Our experienced team is managed by a dedicated Director and supported by directly employed, experienced River and Marine specialists. We work under framework agreements, project work and term contracts for various authorities including the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales.

Water

For a number of years, Dyer & Butler has been providing a focused waste and clean water civil engineering service across England and Wales, including storm and foul water drainage systems through to reservoirs and pumping stations. We work for utility companies, authorities and private organisations under a wide range of contractual agreements.

Our experienced project team work in urban, rural and coastal locations to assist with food protection, flood prevention, flood alleviation projects and storm water run-off solutions covering SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems). At all times our engineering teams take a sensitive and considered approach to ensure the protection of the ecology and environment is at the forefront of our work.

Energy

The energy sector covers a broad range of requirements, from the set-up of substations to the laying of underground high pressure oil pipelines across environmentally sensitive areas. As engineering specialists working in this sector, we understand and work with our customers to address the need of meeting the regulatory requirement to maintain or improve their deliverable performance. This is achieved as a result of the multi-disciplined and highly experienced project managers and engineering staff Dyer & Butler employs.

We work across all disciplines within the energy sector including gas, water, electricity and liquid fuel, also holding framework agreements with the National Grid. As our customers expect and experience with Dyer & Butler, we practice high levels of Health & Safety management and maintain strict control of the ecological and environmental impact of any work we undertake.

Mechanical & Electrical

This is why we devote our time to sourcing only the best, highly trained workforce to carry out work on a project which needs to be completed specifically to programme and to budget.

Dyer & Butler Electrical predominantly operates within airports, and focuses on delivering the best value-led and cost-effective solutions for aeronautical-based projects. As with other areas of our business, ensuring that safety and efficiency is at the forefront of all we do.

Waste

The infrastructure of waste and waste recycling facilities demands highly robust and well-executed works to ensure asset longevity and environmental protection. Of course, all obvious – however, to ensure these crucial attributes are present, they require careful selection of a specialist company. Credentials are therefore essential in the final selection; Dyer & Butler’s span more than 35 years of successfully delivering complex, high profile projects in environmentally sensitive areas.

We have been responsible for the complete redevelopment of large brown field recycling centres, from demolition and site clearance, through to section 38 and 278 (Highways Act 1980) and ultimate site commissioning. Our specialist project teams also undertake works including: building set-up, drainage and storm water attenuation, soft and hard landscaping and wider range of civil engineering provisions.
